Tralee is the county town of County Kerry. The community is on Tralee Bay.
The community name means "strand of Li," which refers to its location on the River Lee.
Also known as Tra Li.
Tralee's population dropped by half during the famine years. Most of the emigrant ships leaving here sailed for Canada.
William Mulchinock wrote the song "Rose of Tralee" which is still sung at the annual Rose of Tralee International Festival.
