"Marble City" Kilkenny is the county town of County Kilkenny. The community is on the River Nore.
The parliament held here from 1366 to 1367 passed the infamous Statutes of Kilkenny, which prohibited English-Irish marriages, as well as Irish language and music.
In 1336, all citizens were required by law to sweep the pavement outside their homes twice weekly.
