Bandon is in County Cork. The community is on the River Bandon.
The Earl of Cork founded Bandon in 1608.
The town was religiously segregated throughout most of the 18th century. Cloth-making was a prominent local industry; linen and cotton production became popular at the end of the 18th century. In the mid 20th century, mills, distilleries and breweries were sources of raw materials for the liquor industry.
