I would like to know what types of accomodations are available or real estate agents for the village of Raleigh.
I am thinking of moving to this quaint area of Canada. If you have any contacts, please advise.
I lived in Vernon Bridge until I was 13. It would be interesting to connect with some of the people that attended school with me & my brothers Cyril & Frank.
AS A BOY, 12 TO 15 YEARS OLD, I LIVED ON HAWES ISLAND hawkes harbour, DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS WHEN WHALING WAS THE ORDER OF THE DAY. THE WHALING STATION WAS OWNED BY CHRISTIAN SALVESEN AND CO. FROM LEITH SCOTLAND. I HAVE MANY PHOTOS FROM THERE AND THEY ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST BY WRITING TO ME AT : ESPANORAMA@YAHOO.COM IT SURE WOULD BE INTERESTNG IF SOMEONE HAS AN INTEREST IN THAT PLACE. ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING ITEMS WAS A WHALE WITH TWO HEADS, WHICH WAS FOUND INSIDE A MOTHER WHALE. THIS WAS RECORDED BY THE CANADIAN INSPECTOR ROBERT L. STEVENSON WITH PHOTOS.
THE WHALING COMPANY WAS CALLED POLAR WHALING COMPANY AND THE HQ. WAS IN HARBOUR GRACE NFLD.

I lived in Hazelton (Two Mile) for five years from 1950 - 1955. I first attended a one room school on the bench, overlooking Old Hazelton. I seem to recall a bit of a steeple (without the cross) so perhaps it was an old church at one time. It had a long wood burning drum type stove in the middle of the room to heat the place. I think I went there two or three years before the new school was built in the old town, BC's first Amalgamated school it was called then, with kids of all races attending. (Haven't we come a long way!) I would really like to have a picture of that one room school if anyone has one. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org

Ceepeecee is not on the Skeena River. It is in Esperansa Inlet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I grew up near Ceepeecee at a place called Zeballos. Went to Zeballos in 1940 and left there in 1958. Anyways, its great to see people interested in the small out of the way places.

I knew a few of the old timers from about 1962. One of the old timers was my mentor. William Silver McLean. When Igot to be a helicopter pilot for Okanagan Helicopters I was into Alice Arm many times. Was on the initial power line construction into Kitsault from the Nass country. Saw the Kitsault Moly Mine from start to finish. I still have a cabin that belonged to Bill McLean, its run down now, but the property is valuable. They have been doing some exploration and diamond drilling on some of the old properties up the Kitsault River. Miss that country.

Youngstown is a very special town. It is full of very caring people and it is a great place to live. The winter that I spent there is a very special memory.
I've not been to Odessa for many years. My mothers maiden name was Mary Eve Hoffart. I have first cousins in Odessa that are sons of my Uncle Joe Hoffart, who I dearly loved...and perhaps relative of my Uncle Steve Hoffart. I used to visit when the train still ran on the track there, and when they had sports days....I am now 78 years old and looking great, here in Portland, Oregon.

I lived on Read Island from 1929 to 1941 when I left to go to school in Vancouver. We lived on 160 acres of rock, my father built our house and he died 7 years after we moved there leaving my mother with a son and 5 girls.
I am told there is now a "no trespassing" sign on the property. I visited it in 1997 to take my grandchildren there to see how their grandmother spent her early days.
I have recently written my memoirs, or part of them.

Hoping someone will read this and help locate a missing dog from December 31, 2008 in the Lake Nakamun area. She was spooked and ran from the cabin.
She is a black Min Pinscher with a green tattoo and weighs about 12 lbs. She is a loved and thoroughly missed family pet.
Her tracks were followed and suddenly ended with no signs of blood or a struggle.
Wouldn't it be lovely to return her to her family for New Years?
On December 31, 2008 a small black dog was spooked at a cabin at Lake Nakamun and we are making every attempt to find "Phoebe" and bring her home to her family.
Her tracks were followed that evening and ended. There was no sign of a struggle and that gives us hope she hitched a ride on this cold night and she is in a loving home. She is a black Min Pinscher, weighs about 12 pounds with a green tattoo RSG560 on her leg.
I have a poster that will circulated extensively this weekend in the area as well many animal rescues and shelters & Vets in the vicinity of the Lake and area were notified ASAP.
Thanks to anyone who keeps a watchful eye and how nice to be able to return a loved and very much missed family pet home, this year.

Almost 47 years ago I lived at mile 46 Hanson Lake Road, after my parents emigrated from the UK. I wasn't there very long but remember it being such a beautiful, peaceful place. I would like some information on the area as it is now and if possible some photographs. Unfortunately my parents have passed on but I will have a look through their belongings to see if I can find any photos from those days. Things I remember are Caribou Creek and the lake where the fishermen used to come and hire one of the log cabins to stay in whilst they fished. We also had hunters come there too who stayed in the log cabins. It was always warm and sunny, well I was only 5 and that is how I remember it! I also remember catching fish in Caribou Creek with our hands and a "Gaf". We had no running water and had to get it from a well that my Dad and Step-Grandad dug. My Mum used to wash our clothes in the creek.
Any info or pictures would be very much appreciated.
A message to ALL.
Please send me an e-mail if you have any past images or interesting history related stories, of North Augusta, Ontario, Canada, which i can include here.

Can anyone tell me......
There was a 50's style drive in restaurant in Simcoe we last saw it in 1982. Our first date was there and for the life of us we cannot recall the name of the restaurant.
I believe it would have been located near an Army Surplus shop and around the current Canadian Tire.
If anyone can tell us the name it would be appreciated.!! Thanks - RobinL
